Business Registration and Consumer Welfare

The Business Name Registration and Consumer Welfare Section provides entrepreneurs basic knowledge and the processes involved in Business Registration and Licensing as governed by law.

Business name registration is one of the primary tasks of DTI under Act 3883 as amended by Act 447 and RA 863. This ensures that all names other than true names used in the conduct of business are duly registered in accordance with the requirement of the law. The registration of business name prior to its use is mandatory for single proprietors and optional for partnerships, corporations, cooperatives and associations that opt. to use their SEC registered names as their business names. LGU owned enterprises and names used by government in their conduct of business are exempt from registration.
